Response to the comments:
1. Thank you Wana...at least I know one person reads my updates = ) Yes, things are going well and I will manage my time wisely

2. I know, only 3 more months here!!! I will be leaving June 28th for Springfield, MO and will be home until July 18th...If you are from Springfield and are free during this time, LET'S HANG OUT = )

July 18th I will be flying out to the Academy for ES300 Naval Weapons 3rd Block. Anybody else at the Academy 3rd block? I think this will help me readjust quicker to the Academy and it will also lighten my Fall class load so I can have more time to focus on school work, working out, and of course, being FAT (Faithful, Available, Teachable = ) I am excited about rejoining Navigators and KAMA...still deciding on squash and Glee Club...took up so much time!!!

So for some reason the picture of Wang Bong receiving his gift didn't upload correctly...here it is...

He finished up another term at Korea University's language program, and being the very intelligent, diligent, and helpful student that he is, he got a scholarship = ) His second one out of 3 terms!

Him with his teacher

My testimony on Sunday at ENM also went well...or so people tell me. It took a lot of effort on my part and my Bible Study leader because I had to write it and Korean. Brief outline of it:
*4th generation Christian doesn't mean I'm more Godly or will receive more blessings
*Didn't know Jesus Christ was the way to salvation until 9 even though went to church since in my mother's womb
*Middle School started to read the Bible on my own , FCA
*High School I really devoted my life to God, read the Bible and prayed every night, but I was still living selfishly and to please others!
*College I did a good job of relying on God at first, but my sophomore year I had a crisis because my relationship with God was not good...only went through the motions of Navs and church and Bible study...didn't rely on Him
*I didn't want to keep going on this path so I talked to Ron (director of Navs at USNA) about it and he told me to talk to some other midshipmen who took a year off for missions and to Dr. SB Lee.
*Was willing to take a year off to learn more about God and witness to others, but did not want to do it if I could not experience ENM first and see if it was a good place for discipline and if it was right for me...if the atmosphere was positive and if the other people there would bond well with me...
*God definitely had a plan for me because right before the summer in May, my entire summer schedule changed from having 2 weeks of leave (which meant I would not have taken a year off since I couldn't experience it first off...I mean, I've wanted to go to the Naval Academy since I was in middle school...taking a year off doesn't mean I can just come back to the Academy next year...totally separated, then I reapply...more so than that, I love my company and my class '08 and taking a year off means another company and not graduating with my roommates and friends) to have 2 months free (got to come to ENM and absolutely loved it...weighed the positives and the negatives and decided, even though many people didn't agree with me and would give up graduating with my close friends, I felt and now know it was God's will for me)
*How the brothers at ENM are excellent role models! They serve others with joy and love.
*How at first I tried to do a whole bunch of works for God...than realized it's not on my power, but only through God's grace and my faith in that. Trying to do it on my own I wasn't very successful at witnessing, but after relying on God and praying a lot, Wang Bong came to Christ = )
*Happy that I could reach at least one person, but how I am going to continue to witness to others because whenever I lived selfishly and to please others, I was never satisfied, but when I rely on God and have faith that He wants the ABSOLUTE best for me and is helping me, I am completely joyful = ) That reason alone I want to spread his love to others who are not able to live a life of love.
*That I still have a problem trying to "earn" my salvation through working hard for the Lord, Ephesians 2:8-9 and also to receive praise from other people, but slowly, little by little bit everyday, God is changing me = )
*Most important thing I learned so far is application...I've been to church for as long as I can remember, learning about His word, etc, but if I don't apply it to my life...what have learned? It would all be in vain.
*My promise verse is 1 Cor. 9:27...about disciplining myself...if I can last 28 days, I persevere 40 and than I will be able to see a change in my habits, then my character = )
*Asked that they would pray I could continue and make the best use of the rest of my time at ENM and that I will be able to take EVERYTHING I have learned and APPLY it back in the States, specifically at the Academy.
*Also asked them to pray for my grandfather...he's 83 and hasn't accepted Christ...because I know there is more to life than this earth, I want him to receive his present of salvation through God's grace and that all he has to do is BELIEVE!
*That's the gist of it... if you have any questions about my testimony or would like to know more about it, please ask = )

I also had the opportunity to catch up with Dr. SB Lee's wife 양원 = ) She took me out for some delicious sushi and chicken, so I insisted that I could treat her to Baskin Robbins (it's the most popular ice cream in Korea for some reason...I mean, it's good, but it's not very popular back in the States, or is it?)

And the Club Festival thing I was telling you about went well! (pictures are below)

So I met a lot of people at this "Korea University Student Club Festival." It was kind of hectic those two days we had to set up and before that we had to plan and prepare everything. As I said, I was in charge of the snacks...we were not short and people were happy with the selection = P

I have a very outgoing, happy personality, so being a "recruiter" for ENM was not something I dreaded. I mean, compared to sharing the Gospel to someone, it's pretty easy (even though I did end up sharing the Gospel to half the people I met). But I would just ask the students if they were freshmen, and if they said yes, I would invite them to our booth for some tea and cookies = P and give them a little information on ENM. I got a lot of cell phone numbers, but after people realized the E in ENM wasn't English, they no longer had any interest in the club = ( I spoke in Korean and English to the freshmen so most of the freshmen were very willing to talk to me at first, but many people, once they found out ENM was a Christian organization, all of a sudden said they had to go to class. It was okay. I'm just a messenger. Hopefully I planted a seed in some. But yeah, it's crazy how many people here want to learn English SO BADLY! Oh, and in my testimony I also mentioned how at first I only prayed and watched as the other brothers witnessed, but then I started to do the talking, and yes, I was nervous, but since I explained in both English and Korean, they had a more willing ear towards me...**please pray I can use this for furthering the Gospel!

I met many KU students, which includes foreign exchange students from Brazil, Russian, England, Australia, China, Taiwan, and the US. 2 Russians and 2 Brazilians were interested in ENM's once a week soccer gathering. They came out last Saturday and enjoyed it. I explained to them why I was in Korea and gave them my short testimony. They said they were Christians already, but just didn't have time for church or Bible Study...They are attending the graduate computer engineering course at KU. Hopefully I can continue to aid them in anyway in order to further their walk in Christ.

I also met a US student named Jonathon. While I was witnessing two other international students who lived in the same dorm as him, I remembered his name and when I saw him later that afternoon, I called his attention. He told me what he was doing in Korea and his interests: which includes finance, and finance, and I I told him about ENM and what I was doing here. He said he couldn't come out to any of our gatherings because he was atheist. I told him that was perfectly fine, but he wanted to know why I thought I was right (taking a year off to witness to people about the Gospel) and how could billions of people in the world be wrong?

I told him claiming to be a Christian is admitting our faults and sins. It's the sick who need a doctor. I believe that other people are trying to find their purpose in life, and I told him that since God created us humans from the dust and gave us His spirit, he knows the best and wants the best for us. Just as the manufacturerof your digital camera knows that camera the best, they gave a detailed instruction manual in order to get the best use out of it and all of it's functions. God, being our creator, gave us the Bible in order to tell us how best to use our potential. This went on for 15 to 20 minutes, really, and finally he said I must have been a recruiter for the Navy because I was a good speaker yet I didn't directly answer a single question he asked...= ( but I kept 1 Peter 3:15 in mind (I didn't start memorizing verses until I got here, but man, it really helps!!!) and was very friendly and gentle and of course prepared= )

And then he said how I wasted his time and how he needed to go study now...**Please pray for Jonathon to have an open heart...I thought I answered all of his questions, but if he's not open to these ideas, then all I can do is pray.

set up

play by play witnessing = P

lol, looks like it's staged, doesn't it? But it's not = )

yeah, more witnessing

lunch !

The Russians and Brazilians

Lunch day 2

yeah,it was a lot of work, but things went well = ) THANK YOU FOR THE PRAYERS!!!

NEW PLAN!

First, isn't this freaky? I see it every time I go to our ENM Club room at KU!!! might only make sense to those at the Academy... USNA...UNSA

Anyway, our NEW PLAN. Us eating before hand

yummy boo deh jee ggeh.

Our club room. our NEW PLAN is to target more freshmen at KU and what we needed to do in order to get more members. Will not be meeting 3 times a week during lunch for outreach. also created a Tuesday night gathering of KU students for a "game night" or "movie night" or whatever we could do to just "hang out"

**Please pray that this NEW PLAN works out. Our director said KU is his "promised land"
Matthew 9:36-38 harvest...workers few
Genesis 15:1-7 Abram/Abraham...heirs as numerous as the stars
Isaiah 54 don't be discouraged
Ephesians 3:20 God's unlimited power...only limited by us
Mathew 6:13 keep us from evil

3.28 Wednesday we are having a freshmen ENM gathering...hopefully all those we invited, well, to be realistic, if half the people we invited would come, that would be AWESOME!
**Please pray it goes well = )

But must go!!! late for a lunch meeting with Wang Bong!!!

Sunday, March 11, 2007

So for the past two weeks things have been going very well = )

First, Wang-Bong (Wang Feng in Chinese) is starting Bible Study with me tomorrow = ) I bought him a Kor-Chinese Bible yesterday after his 3rd week of going to Church with me = )

Us eating kimchi jjee geh after church with his new Bible.

As I said, he's on his 3rd week of going to church and learning about the Bible. It's so fortunate that there is a Chinese pastor who is able to have fellowship with him to explain how the Bible is truth. I'm actually watching these Bible Seminar things on a DVD while he gets the whole fellowship version. I'm actually learning a lot from it too, which is nice since it takes over an hour to get to this church = P

Okay, rewinding 2 weeks = P

Daniel Tan is the person I met in Qingdao and he's who the Big Boss Man was witnessing to 2 Tim 2:2. I had the task of taking him around Seoul = )

Surprised at how busy the subway was = P

Yet still lots of business men making every effort to sell their products...ㅎㅎㅎㅋㅋㅋ

cucumber slicer...said it's good for the skin because it relieves stress = )

Us at Seoul National

Not very impressive for being S. Korea's #1 University, top 100 in the world... but it definitely was placed strategically in the mountains...no distractions like at Yonsei and Korea University. Daniel said they focused on getting good teachers and students, not making their buildings fancy = P

Wang Feng said it's better that way...he liked the atmosphere (took Wang Feng there on a different day because he wants to go to Grad School there or at Korea University. Please pray for him about that)

So Wang Feng went for Grad School info and Daniel went because he wanted to see SKY
Seoul National Univ, Korea Univ, Yonsei The top 3 Universities in Korea

Nice soccer field

All of their Christian Clubs met in the SAME ROOM! And the student center building was a MESS!!!But I guess all that matters is that they can have a place to gather. There were two services going on...I just barged in = P They didn't mind though

Here we are at Yonsei Unversity

Nice imitation = P

He got to see some of the ENM brothers and sister graduation from Korea University along with other universities in the area

They shared their testimonies and their experiences
I got to sing a special song along with 6 other brothers and sister at ENM...had to memorize the song in a day...all I have to say is that my lips were at least moving = P

And some of the sister graduates sang a Thank You song for everybody coming out
The 4th from the right will be heading to China (her major was/is Chinese) for 5 years...pray for her to be safe and continue to spread the gospel. Yoo-Jung Lee She's an AMAZING person. She takes so much time to meet and help other people in hopes of spreading the Gospel even though she was attending Grad School!!!

Us at a Illsan (means city of flower and lake) Water park. He was very impressed with how well made the park was. To be honest, so was I...it was HUGE! And Koreans love, LOVE nature, so this place was amazing with lots of active Korean runner, walkers, bikers, etc. Sorry, but can't really see the beauty in the pictures = O

lol...running hard = P

That's me on a barefoot walk. They have these at a lot of parks...luckily people are respectful and don't break glass bottles there...

I took him to eat dumplings...I know there are a lot of dumpling joints in China, but I wanted him to compare...he said "it's different" lol

Since he stayed with us for 5 days, he wanted to experience what live in the Apart was like...so we gave him a cooking assignment = P

It was nice being able to fellowship with Daniel

Praise together and shared his thoughts along with prayer requests:
1 **For success in the missionary world in China
2 **For Happiness for the brothers at ENM
3 **To be able to meet with us again in the future

I had the opportunity to go to all of his "man to man's" with the directors and translate into English for him. It was such a blessing to do that because not only did I get to learn even more about Daniel, I got to hear the very useful encouraging words from the director and my Bible Study Leader. I also found that I'm more attentive whenever I have to translate = P Even though I should always be attentive = O

Final Toast

Some of the brothers and the Big Boss man's family along with Daniel heading off for the airport

Him going back to China...It took 30 minutes to figure out how to fit in 4 guys and all of their luggage in the small car...lol...but they figured it out = P

I was so glad that Daniel got to meet Wang-Bong/Feng also because it gave Wang Feng hope. **Please pray that he will be able to spread the Gospel to his friends and family back in Qingdao and Shanghai. **Also pray that his current girlfriend is the One or if she isn't for them to know...3 R's. right time, right way, right person

I got a reply from his saying he's doing well, busy catching up on his work (took his whole years vacation to come to Korea and see the brothers), but happy = )

I also got to spend some time with Wana, my friend from Bethel Church in Maryland. It was nice to get to know her better here and find out how she has a heart for God's work. Oh, and if you know her, tell her to sing a song for you! She has an AMAZING VOICE! Didn't know that until she came to our praise meeting. = P The sisters were all telling me how she came to their team meeting and played the guitar and sang and how heavenly it was. Wana went back last Tuesday to Maryland. **Please pray that God will reveal to her His will for her after graduation. Whether it's missions work in Cambodia or elsewhere, straight into a job in Maryland, or ministry in the area...**Please pray for her not to lose hope but to keep Prov 3:5-6 in mind**and for Bethel's College Ministries...have not heard from them and am kind of concerned...

Sang was also in Korea but we were not able to meet. He's back in China now, but **please pray that he won't get caught up in other things, but to focus His life on God. **That God will help him to continue to spread the Gospel there.

**For my Academy friends going on Spring Break! Also for Dr. Lee and his wife to continue to grow in Christ together. His wife is actually back in Seoul (needed to leave and wait for US citizenship) **For Nick as Dr. Lee is helping him to learn about Christ **For the Navigators, especially Ron Koehler and his family along with Mike Klotzbach (had tumor surgery in Jan...not sure how he's doing now)

**Please pray for my father has he has a slight cold and his ankle is bothering him from work. **Please pray for my parents health and that they could find a good church to go to together (complicated story, but please pray)

**My brother David as he finishes up Law School May 22 is looking for a Law Firm in VA
**My sister Esther with her job and the 3 R's
**Sister Anne with her decision after college and also 3 R's

I will finish up writing but I need to go have fellowship with a freshmen with my Bible Study leader!

Oh, before I leave, I joined the MISSION FORCE TEAM = ) Started last Wednesday...means more responsibility (yes Wana = P )but I'm up for the challenge = ) Will fill you in more on that once I get back!!!

Okay, back.

Freshman's name is Byung-Hoon. He's a non-believer, but he wants to play sports with us whenever we go out, and he really wants to learn the guitar. **Please pray that he will open his heart to Christ

For MFT (meets Wednesday night) I will be assigned 2 new believers and meet with them at least twice a week (once for a man to man and once for service) and have Bible Study with them and encourage them to memorize the Navs TMS 60 cards. I'm also in charge of snacks for our weekly 3 hour meeting. I think they put me in charge of snacks because it's the easiest job...also in charge of snacks for my 3 hour Tiger A-B meeting = P. What do we do for 3 hours you ask? *praise, *worship, *QT sharing, *prayer requests, prayer notebooks, QT notebooks, service to ENM by helping clean the parking garage or a room, checking up on how we're doing with those we're leading, sharing what we learned from Transforming Grace, Bible verse memory test (TMS 60 for me TMS 180 for them = P...I need to play major catch up), etc. The Tiger A-B meeting is similar (meets Tuesday night)...the * notes the same stuff, then we have a snack together and then play a sport so we can invite even non-believers.

Wednesday and Thursday there is a Korea University Club Festival...all of the KU student organizations are going to be conducting a booths outside the Student Center Building in order to get Freshmen to join their club. The Campus ENM team will be having a booth from 11am to 3pm both days. I'm on the snack team again = P We will be selling (well, ENM members will invite freshmen and pay for them) tea, coffee, and snacks in order to provide a nice little environment where we can spread the Gospel. The other team is making decorations and entertainment. **Please pray for the freshmen to have open hearts = ) and that we will be able to prepare everything for Wednesday and Thursday.

I also had the opportunity to visit my Aunt! She recently moved to Seoul from Busan, but it's only a temporary 1 year move...uncle's bank...But her son has been in Korea doing residency at Samsung Hospital.

My aunt and her dog Jee-Soo Cute, but really hates people = P Only likes my aunt's family and dogs = O
We went to the nearby "river walk" type place...it's the oldest in Seoul located in Gang-Nam. Apartments in this area for one room one bath are over 1.5 million...most expensive land in Korea...

She is basically part of the family...I'm glad my aunt has a dog because she's the type of person who is so loving and babies her children...very nurturing. She was even thinking about moving to the Netherlands for a year (her other son got a scholarship at a University there and is now working doing creative art computer stuff) to make food for her son, do his laundry, etc! Yeah, she is very, very nurturing. But now that they're all grown up, she didn't have anybody else to nurture, so I'm glad she has a dog to love = )

And also, after a funeral of one the ENM brother's father's =( (not one of the campus brothers) we had a surprise birthday part for brother Sung Jeen...in the parking garage = P

lol The apart leader always tries to think of creative ways to surprise people on their birthday lol

Oh, and remember brother Sung-Man? He moved back into the Apart and while he was away, even though he didn't mean to, he lost the 3 kg he and I originally shook on( because he moved to a dormitory and worked part time he didn't eat very well)...but I have a feeling he will gain it all back if he's not careful = P

Oh, and I will be flying back to Springfield June 29th...that's when my Visa expires here. I will be flying out to the Academy 18July since I have to report back on 19 July, at 0900 to Main Office. I'll be taking ES300, Weapons, a 4-week required course in Block 3 in order to get re accustomed to the Academy: uniform, schedule, etc...also so that my workload will be a little less after taking a year off from Mechanical Engineering!!! **Please pray that I will be able to renew my friendships and make new friends as I go back to the Academy. Also that I can continue being a missionary back at the Academy

ALSO!!! I WILL BE SHARING MY TESTIMONY THIS SUNDAY AT THE ENM SERVICE....PLEASE PRAY THAT I CAN PREPARE FOR IT WELL = ) It's kind of making me nervous...= P

Okay, will keep you posted = )
