I'm no longer a long haired hippie!

Yeah, after being told numerous times to cut my hair, I finally gave in! To be honest, even if I had the choice to grow out my hair again, I WOULDN'T! Nuh moo ddab ddab heh suh!
PICTURES BELOW!

Anyway, more importantly, my final (brief) self-evalution:

"*To know and reflect Christ in my daily life and to make Him known to others -- to the students at Korea University and my relatives who do not believe: My grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins"

Progress: I am slowly making progress in this...witnessing is not easy, but through prayer I can do all things in Christ who strengthens me. I have shared the Gospel to many here and still meet with the select few who I feel, through prayer and God's saving grace, will be able to lead others in the future. 2 Tim 2:2

Result: The most important thing that I learned was God’s grace. I’ve learned I need to quit comparing myself with others, quit being SO WORRIED about little things, and I need to step up my faith level! I’m glad I was able to have this year at ENM to know more about God, myself, a different culture (not only Korean, but also Chinese and Japanese through meeting those students)

"*To be disciplined in my daily activities -- Quiet Time, praise, worship, prayer, studying, memorizing Bible verses, exercising, etc, following the Bible verse Colossians 3:23 'Work at it with all of you heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.'

"Progress: Living here has definitely helped me discipline myself, but I'm still being tempted with greed in the form of money, praise, food, sleep, etc. I need to continue disciplining myself so that I listen to the Holy Spirit, instead of my fleshly desires, so that I won't be a hypocrite witnessing. 1 Cor. 9:27

Result: I realize it’s all about consistency. Doing thing little by little bit. I need to quit wanting to get results right away and instead work diligently WITHOUT losing hope! It’s a slow process, but I’m doing well with Bible memory, exercising, etc. I just need to keep it up! I want to be a good example for others!

*To start an English Praise Team in hopes of bringing a larger audience to Christ -- work on my singing and maybe even learn how to play the guitar or drumsProgress: Saturday and Sunday I donate my time to teach others English. 2 hours on Saturday I teach with 2 other Koreans dialogues and idioms. 1 hour on Sunday I lead praise in English and an English Bible study focusing on pronunciation, accent/stress, and intonation.I'm also part of the campus praise team here called "하늘소리" (Heavenly Voice) which meets every Saturday for 3 hours praising and praying.I am currently trying to learn the guitar on my own...not very successfully, but still...led praise at the KU ENM meetings

Result: I didn’t get to make an English Praise Team like I hoped, but I also got to get involved with YWAM international’s praise service on Friday’s. I’m still not very good at the guitar, but I’m to the point where I can sing praise to God using the guitar which makes me happy = )

"*To always make time for others!"To keep accountability with my other brothers"I am not my own...I'm a part of the Body of Christ so I need to help others in the areas that God has blessed me with. I am helping others get into shape by working out/playing sports with them, teaching them English, and I feel God has blessed me with a personality compatible with most people so that I can help encourage them/have fellowship with them...to be there for them when they need somebody to talk to.I have a pretty deep man to man talk once a week with my Bible Study leader, which can last for hours...how life is going, struggles, our plans to overcome, accountability on memory verses, etc. Also have accountability with my Apart Leader (this place we live at ENM is called Apart, not to be confused with Apartment, because we live apart from the desirable standards of the world...living in the world, but not living of it).

Result: I think I spent a lot more time with Wang Feng than I did keeping accountability with the other brothers, but I feel that that was okay because all the brothers are also busy helping others. I hope that I can take this back to me as I go back to the Academy. I want to be able to live a life CENTERED ON GOD, not putting him off on the side like I have before

"*To be completely fluent in Korean""Completely" may be to strong of a word, but I'm working on it. In my free time I am reading a Korean book and memorizing some words. I took a 10 week long language course but currently am not because it would take away from my training with ENM.Result:My knowledge of Korean culture and language has been quadrupled (yet I’m still just intermediate)! I’m happy that I understand a lot more of where my parents are coming from and that I can communicate better with my relatives.

**Please pray I can take back what I have learned and continue to build upon this foundation. Also, that I can "water" my Grandpa in the Gospel. I've been sending him those "mist" cards along with photos of me to show him how much I care...

At my aunt's house near Samsung Hospital in Seoul. My cousin is finishing up residency there. I look pretty good in the blue don't I? Sort of made me want to be a doctor = P

Wrapping things up!

I'm spending the majority of my meals having fellowship with others before I leave. It's nice getting all of this good advice and good food = )

I also got to see my kun eeh moh and eeh moh boo since they came up from Busan to get an MRI screening...And also saw my other eehmoh since her son works at that hospital in Seoul. Didn't get to see him, byungsoo, since he was in the ER busy with stuff.

Wang Feng is leaving this Wednesday! We ate at the director's house ...absolutely DELICIOUS, and he prayed for us. This was my 3rd time going there...and 2 of the 3 times we played jenga! lol It's fun

Wang Feng is leaving for Beijing to work with LG. I'm glad he had that opportunity and I pray he will be able to continue Bible study with an ENM member there. Last night we met and I helped him learn a Korean praise song. My mentor wanted him to sing it during our last Bible study session and my mentor said he would sing a praise song in Chinese....... and I get to listen = P

The WORD of God is mind boggling! I mean, just thinking of it. It's so deep and profound it it makes fools of the wise!

Some photos when I when sight seeing with the Mids...They took most of the pictures, so the ones I post are HORRIBLE....sorry. Especially sorry to Chris...lol You'll see why

Dr. SB Lee and I give our testimonies tomorrow during the ENM service! Please pray for us as we share our experiences. Especially since many members took this opportunity to invite non-believers since Dr. SB Lee was speaking = )

I'll post my rough draft of my testimony...it's not the revised version...I mean extremely ROUGH!

It seems like yesterday I moved into the apart. My first impression was, WOW! How can these people devote so much of their time to God yet still go to school/have a career? Well, after living with them for roughly a year, I think Im starting to understand. Its all about devoting your self to God. Its not about us, its all about God.

Im no scholar in the Bible, after spending a year here Ive come to realize HOW LITTLE I KNOW, but thats what makes me powerful! Because then I rely on God instead of on my own power. Coming to Korea I learned SO MUCH about myself. Living in the apart I was sick a lot more than Im usually used to. A lot of that has to do with over exerting myself, but also with my attitude and thoughts. Im an extremely extroverted person. It seemed when my friends or family back home had concerns, I would carry that burden on my own, or whenever some of the apart brothers in January/February struggled, I took on that burden also. But as 1 Peter 5:7 says, Cast all your anxiety upon him because he cares for you! While I was sick I realized how much more I relied on God and other people to take care of me. It really is the sick who need the doctor, not the healthy.

Bible memory has also been an extreme help! Growing up in the church I memorized some key verses, but I did not consider Bible memory something that I needed to do. Now I realize the importance of memorizing scripture. Straight from Psalm 119:9,11, its true. Whenever a situation occurs, if Im able to think of a Bible verse I can avoid the trap of the devil! Otherwise I would try to be wise in my own understanding, and yes, being stubborn, a lot of times I do that, but Im learning more and more everyday to rely more on God.

Its such a blessing to know Gods grace! Praise God!

While living in the apart I have experienced A LOT! When I first came in September, I wanted to be as involved as I could and I wanted to do a lot of so called “missionary work” so that I could feel like I was accomplishing something. But something very important I learned here is GOD’S GRACE! There is absolutely NO WAY that I can repay my debt, but because God loves me, Jesus was sent for me.

Disciplining myself has been the most difficult part. Im not sure about you all, but for me, I ask God to just GIVE me thingsI want to do as little work as possible. But God loves us so much more than that, that he wants us to change our habits first, and then NATURALLY we will be happier, healthier, etc, because were changing little by little to become more like Him!

I have never witnessed to complete strangers before I came to Korea. I was kind of scared doing it at first, but by Gods grace I am learning more and gaining even more courage as I proclaim his word. Because I am trying to tell people about the joy of Christ, I must show them by being a living example. I plan on continuing to witness as I go back to the states. We only have one life to live. I am going to live, work, and die for the most worthwhile thing.

In terms of Bible Study, I have learned so much. Analyzing the word and really getting down to the root of the meaning has helped me to learn more about what God wants to tell me. Im used to receiving help, not giving help, but here in Korea I was able to help Wang Feng directly get to learn about the Bible, and others I was able to introduce them to others who could help them. Of all things, I became very good friends with Wang Feng. He has such an open mind I praise God! He went to church an hour 15minutes away to learn more about the Bible from a Chinese pastor, he would come to ENM and Tuesdays we would have Bible study with my mentor. We met each other almost everyday of the week to just see whats up, play sports, or to study together. He lives on his own so he likes to hang out with other people when he gets the chance. I never realized how blessed I was to be able to live in the apart, especially because of all of the encouragement. Of course at times there was conflict and turmoil in the apart, since nobody is perfect, but all in all, Ive learned so much from the brothers. Its love. To make time for others and to really, truly, genuinely care for them. He says its because of the brothers and me that he wants to learn more about the Bible and our way of life, but he has yet to accept. I told him thats okay because thats between him and God. Hes doing the right things right now. This week is also his last week at ENM. Hes leaving this Wednesday to head back to China. I hope that he can continue studying the Bible with so and so in Beijing. If I have the opportunity, I told him I would love to visit him, especially for the 2008 summer Olympics!

When I head back to the states, I plan on teaming up with Brother SB and 양원선생님 and LCDR Crane and his wife to reach out to Asian midshipmen. I pray for FAT men and that I may help them in their journey to learn more about Christ, I can be on the inside and help them and since Im undergoing the same experiences and have experienced what the other Mids are going through, I can help them that much more. I want to be the best example I can be for Christ! Ive learned from the director and my mentor and the apart leader how to help other people. What steps I need to take in order to help them along their journey to know Christ. And by helping others I will learn a lot more myself because I will have to and want to be an example to them. Praise God!

Its true. The difference a good leader can make. The difference in ordinary and extraordinary is the little extra. Seriously. Because of my selfishness I always want things right away and to be good at them! But as we all learned from the tortoise and the hare, slow and steady really does win the race!!!! Its the constant that I can continue to live in the word. LITTLE BY LITTLE! I cant emphasize that enough! Make a plan and stick to it! Dont say, oh, Ill do it tomorrow! Ive learned if you do that, it will always be put off until later! Have an accountability partner, a workout partner, dont try to do things on your own! You may prevail, but who is going to pick you up when you fall down?

The things I had the most trouble with:

Comparing! I always rate myself against other people! Well, Im doing this and hes doing that and so that puts me at this levelbut its not that! We are ALL different parts of Gods body with different talents and gifts! I had a hard time during the winter because I visited my friend who was living doing missionary work and how he was making lots of money and doing what he wanted, and that really tested my faith because I was like, why cant I do that? Why shouldnt I just go out and teach English, make lots of money and live generously giving to others while also having fun myself? I felt I was enduring a lot more for Christ. But the thing is, Im happy the way I spent my year here. I wouldnt trade my experience for anything else. Before coming to Korea Ive traveled to many beautiful places, Ive experienced a lot of things that the world considers fun, but never am I more happy and fulfilled as when I give praise to God. Its true. I can honestly say with all my heart, there is no better way to live. That is why I came to Korea! To testify to others about this! For the training of the Body is useful, but training in Godliness is useful in every aspect! In this life, and the life to come. 1 Timoth 4:8

Yes, I realize when I get back to the Academy I may regret some things about taking a year off, but all in all I am so thankful to God! God loves us so much he wants to point out our flaws to us so that we can change! Of course God can easily change our circumstances, but I dont want to live for others, or be jealous of them, I want to always look for the positives, for the best in people, and I want to live for him. 지현형 was telling me to remember why I wont regret taking the year off. Especially when times will be tough in the future going to school, thats when I need to really

The most important things Ive learned while in Korea and my plan to carry them out:

Gods grace! Ive learned to live life with a THANKFUL HEART! Every time I think about what God has sacrificed for me, I am able to put into contrast how trivial and petty circumstances can befor example, when somebody does wrong to me, I usually get upset, but then I think about how much more I have wronged God. It helps put things into perspective..

Ive learned about Lordship and the importance of mentors! And learning here I realize how much more I need to learn, yet I dont lose hope because I know I am slowly but surely changing to become more like Christ. Im taking one day at a time, changing my attitude to become Christ like and to become more like Him. Its amazing what our attitude can make of us!

바로 'See you in the near future'입니다.

mY mentor's birthday! Wang Feng bought the cake and lunch for the lunch QT sharing time people...= )
cutting of the cake!
Campus director eating the Kiwi Icecream my mentor bought out of appreciation after receving our gifts ^^ (oh, and I never realized Korean focus on the eyes on emotions whereas American focus on the mouth!) = ) ^^ = ( ㅠㅠNetherlands vs Korea!
cPACKED!
sEATS were good = )
Korea actually did good, but still lost = P
2 to 0
u
Netherlands have a lot of SICK players! And they're really good at moving the ball around!

Gob Chang...small intestine of cattle similar to soon-dew (intestine of pig) yet MUCH tastier!
c
Celebrating my mentor's b-day at ENM
His wife's Bible study Team

He treated us to Mr. Pizza = )

My last month in Korea! Having a lot of fun while at the same time learning more and more! Also had the opportunity to go bike riding along the Han River near the 63 building (Korea's tallest building = P

Oh, and the dance went well! Wang Feng shot the video for me with my dica...can't upload it since it's 5 minutes, but maybe you can get a chance to see it later

I will be heading back to Springfield June 28th and heading back to Maryland June 19th. And I will tell the sisters you said Hello Wana!

I was told my biggest problem is trying to please people...I think I knew this long before, but if I don't get rid of that "root," it'll keep growing back! CUT IT OFF! God wants to prune us, and yes, it may hurt or feel awkward at first, but it's for our benefit...so we can produce more fruit!
If you go to a vineyard, the leaves on the vine are beautiful, but they're only for show! PRODUCE FRUIT! And it should be NATURAL! You don't go to a vineyard and hear "ehhh, ehhh, POP!" No, the grapes slowly but surely grow! Not through the hard work of the vine. And the harsher the environment for the vines, the tastier the fruit! ENDURE! It's cool how God is telling me relating topics through different people and sermons I go to ...

YWAM international as I said has been a blessing to me since I can really pour out all of my emotions and praise God...different than a lot of the traditional services I go to. Man, I love to praise!!! And even though I may not have the greatest voice, God still loves hearin

Don't be so concerned with pleasing people...but be concerned with living for your AUDIENCE OF ONE who examines our hearts.

It was nice that my mentor was telling me that he doesn't think I'll have a problem with money, girls, or school, but rather that pleasing people is going to be the thorn in my side while trying to live for God. And my Bible study this week, emphasized just that! I'm going to apply the 5 P's...

Galations 1:10 and 1 Thess. 2:4

But to be honest, I still feel that ANYTHING and everything can cause me stumble. Girls, money, my pride... the LIST GOES ON! It's a process, but if we can learn to just PRUNE our selves...CUT IT OFF! or else it'll come right back. In my case it's been my hair and 2nd looks. I have a bad habit of pulling out my hair, and I didn't do it for about 2 months, but now I'm back at it! At first I said...oh, just a little...BUT ONLY ONCE NEVER IS! And with second looks, whenever I walk around Korea, I find my eyes wandering! The past 2 days I've been more conscious about both, but it's hard if I keep stepping closer and closer to the boundary. I NEED TO RUN IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION!

I talked to my parents last night for the first time in about a month! It was nice talking to them = ) Told me how the family was doing and what they were up to.
Prayer requests:
*Parents - That they may find a good group of friends, either through Church or...
*Brother and his wife Sarah- for their health and their baby! Ex
*Brother studying for the Virigina Bar Exam...needs to read $1,000 worth of books by June 20th!
*Sister Esther as her friend visits her this weekend
*Sister Anne as she will be going to Europe to visit her boyfriend

*Dr. Lee and his wife to continue to live for God! He hasn't been able to log onto Skype so I haven't talked to him for a month! He's EXTREMELY busy...He'll be coming to Korea along with 3 Midshipmen and LCDR Crane. Pray that they will arrive safely and that we can spend quality time together!

*Wang Feng as he continues to come to ENM and continues Bible Study (EBS) with me and my mentor

*Heh Jean, as she will be attending Bible study for the first time this week! Thank the Lord She accepted Christ! Amazing considering she only spend a couple of days with the ENM sisters whereas Wang Feng still has not accepted and I meet with him almost DAILY! But it's comforting to know it's not by what I do. IT'S ALL GOD! = )

*The brothers here as they get ready for FINALS! Also for me to stay on top of my Korean class stuff...= )

* For me to finish up the rest of this month following my original goals! To send the "mist" witnessing letters to my grandparents. To PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, and to continue memorizing scripture. For our Key meeting last wednesday, we all got to choose what chapter we wanted to memorize by June 27th... I chose 2Tim 2...pray I can stay on top of it!

PRAY constantly = ) And please, if you have any prayer concerns, I can't pray about them unless you tell me! = )
